Pia Wurtzbach confirms she’s not playing Darna

After much online clamor for the former Miss Universe to play Darna, Pia Wurtzbach finally confirmed that she will not be taking the role.

After actress Angel Locsin’s and ABS-CBN management’s public announcement that she can no longer play the iconic Filipina heroine, fans began voicing out who they want the next “Darna” to be.

Since then, Miss Universe 2015’s name instantly figured in online discussions, along with other notable possible contenders such as Liza Soberano, Nadine Lustre and Jessy Mendiola.

However, Wurtzbach has denied that she will be the next Darna, through a statement she gave the press during a recent ambush interview.

Kahit sinasabi ng mga manonood na ako yung maging Darna pero hindi ako eh, thank you, pero mukang iba yung plano ng ABS-CBN,” she confirmed.

(Even though viewers are saying that I be the next Darna, unfortunately, it’s not me; thank you [for rooting for me] but I think ABS-CBN has other plans.) JB
