Madonna always causes a commotion, whether through her music or politics. Her ardent speech at the recent Women’s March in Washington certainly did, so much so that an executive at a local radio station has decided not to play the pop icon’s music anymore.
In a statement, Terry Thomas, the general manager of the Texas-based Hits 105 FM, described Madonna’s anti-Trump comments and “thoughts” of “blowing up the White House” as being “un-American.” He added that the ban was not a matter of “politics,” but of “patriotism.”
“It just feels wrong to be playing Madonna’s songs and paying her royalties when she has shown un-American sentiments. If all stations playing Madonna took their lead from us, that would send a powerful economic message to her,” he said.
But as what Madonna’s loyal supporters quickly pointed out, their idol—just like most artists today—no longer relies on radio airplay. It’s all about touring now, in which the singer-songwriter holds numerous records.

Justin Timberlake couldn’t stop the feeling…literally.
The pop star was so stoked about his hit, “Can’t Stop the Feeling,” getting an Oscar nomination for best original song, that he couldn’t help but tweet in all caps and be a tad too generous with exclamation marks.
“SPEECHLESS. WOWOWOW!!!!!!!,” the 35-year-old former N’Sync member wrote on Twitter, shortly after learning that the single, which he cowrote and coproduced for the animated film “Trolls,” is up for an Academy Award this year.
“Can’t Stop the Feeling” is reportedly the 41st Billboard Hot 100 chart-topping single to achieve such feat, joining the ranks of Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” from “Titanic” (1997), Peter Cetera’s “Glory of Love” from “The Karate Kid II” (1986) and Stevie Wonder’s “I Just Called to Say I Love You” from “The Woman in Red” (1984).

After Selena Gomez and The Weeknd were spotted canoodling, sparking romance rumors, the paparazzi expectedly hunted down the former’s ex-boyfriend, Justin Bieber, for a reaction.
In a video by entertainment website TMZ, the 22-year-old Canadian singer is shown heading back to his car after what seemed like a night out. Asked if he could listen to the music of The Weeknd, or Abel Tesfaye, Justin retorted: “Hell, no! That s–t’s wack!”
Earlier, TMZ also reported, citing sources, that Justin believes that Selena is only using The Weeknd for promotion for an alleged new piece of music they’re doing together.—Allan Policarpio
