‘Game of Thrones’ Season 6, Episode 6 recap
Last week’s episode gave us a huge heartbreak after Hodor’s death. We were craving to know what happens next and thankfully, “Blood of My Blood” has the answers.
Bran Stark, the new Three-Eyed Raven, was still lost in his visions while Meera Reed was hauling him away from the cave. Try as they might to run away, the wights eventually found them. Before they got killed, a mysterious man, covered in veil and cloak, came galloping on horseback and took down the living corpses with fire.
On their way to Horn Hill, Samwell Tarly and Gilly were discussing how they would face his family. The couple heaved a sigh of relief when they were welcomed by Samwell’s mother Melessa wholeheartedly.
However, during the family dinner, Samwell’s father Randyll found out that Gilly was a wilding and didn’t take it well. He has always hated wildlings whom he calls as “savages.” He chided Sam for bringing home one and banished him from Horn Hill.
But Samwell wasn’t leaving Gilly and her little son Sam behind. He decided to take them with him as he left. He also stole the Valyrian sword of his father.

On her way out, she bumped into the actress who engaged her in a small talk. Arya commended the lady’s good performance and even suggested minor changes in the script so she could effectively portray Cersei Lannister.

Unbeknownst to her, the Waif was lurking behind. She reported Arya’s failure to her master Jaqen H’gar, who became completely disappointed. The Waif was given an order to kill the girl, who would be ready to defend herself now that she has recovered her sword “Needle” from its hiding place.
The High Sparrow let King Tommen see Queen Margaery at her jail before she does her “walk of atonement.” Margaery recognized the High Sparrow’s behavior and “his way of looking at the world.” She also told her husband how the High Sparrow helped her in realizing her mistakes and finding herself again.
Mace Tyrell and Jaime Lannister gathered an army and they marched up to the front of the Sept of Baelor in an attempt to thwart the High Sparrow’s plan to have Margaery do her penance.
Before a scuffle between the army and faith militants broke out, the High Sparrow called off the event. He informed the people that Margaery has already atoned for her sins and announced the holy alliance between the Crown and the Faith. King Tommen affirmed the union and promised to restore the seven kingdoms to glory.
Tommen maintained his position when Jaime rebuked him about his team-up with the religious zealots. He stripped his father of his post as a Kingsguard. He said anyone would be an enemy of the Crown if he attacks the Faith of the Seven. As a consolation, Jaime could still render service for the Crown, but not in King’s Landing.
Seething with anger, Jaime told Cersei that he is being sent to the Riverlands to help the Freys deal with Brynden “the Blackfish” Tully. He considers to get Bronn and other killers to slay the High Sparrow. The Queen Mother convinced her to go and show everyone the power of Lannisters. She won’t be needing Jaime too for her trial—a trial by combat— because she has The Mountain.
At The Twins, Walder Frey reprimanded his son after he lost the castle to the Blackfish. The father ordered the son to take back the Riverrun and to use their hostage Edmure Tully as a weapon to do so.
Back in the forest, the mysterious man revealed himself to Meera and Bran: he’s Benjen Stark (Bran’s uncle). He shared how he was helped by the Children of Forest and survived the White Walkers. He told his nephew to begin acting as the Three-Eyed Raven to get ready to fight the winter monsters once they begin to cause destruction in the realm.
In Essos, Daenerys Targaryen was asking her aide Daario Naharis about how many ships they need to sail to Westeros until she got distracted by something. The khalasar came to a halt while Daenerys left to check out the “thing.” It turns out to be Drogon, her dragon, which already doubled in size. It hovered above Dothraki men who looked very much in awe of the majestic sight.
Mounted on Drogon’s back, Daenerys faced the whole tribe, calling them her bloodriders and motivating them about their mission to conquer the whole Westeros. RAM
