Here are the highlights of the recently concluded Binibining Pilipinas 2024 pageant which celebrated its 60th anniversary this year, and delivered its promise of a grand celebration during its coronation night on Sunday, July 7 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

At the end of the coronation night, Binibining Pilipinas crowned two new queens, who also became instant millionaires: Binibining Pilipinas International Myrna Esguerra from Abra and Binibining Pilipinas Globe Jasmin Bungay from Pampanga.

Two new queens became instant millionaires, Binibining Pilipinas International Myrna Esguerra from Abra and Binibining Pilipinas Globe Jasmin Bungay from Pampanga, at the culmination of the Bb. Pilipinas 2024 competition, the national pageant’s 60th edition.

The Binibining Pilipinas 2024 pageant has paid tribute to the queens who have passed on at the 60th anniversary show on Sunday, July 7, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum at the Araneta City in Quezon City.

A video presentation was played to honor the departed Binibining Pilipinas queens, starting with Myrna Panlilio, the pageant’s first-ever queen, who was crowned in 1964.

Myrna Esguerra of Abra and Christal Dela Cruz of Zambales are the candidates who dominated the special awards of the Binibining Pilipinas 2024 coronation night, bringing home several of the national tilt’s special plums.

Before announcing the Top 15 semifinalists, special awards covering the pageant’s sponsors, national costume, swimsuit, and evening gown portions were revealed on Sunday night, July 7, at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

Myrna Esguerra of Abra and Trisha Martinez of Pila, Laguna are among the candidates who advanced to the Top 15 of the Binibining Pilipinas 2024 pageant in Quezon City on Sunday, July 7.

Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. (BPCI) has managed to gather more than 100 of its winners from its 60-year run to open the 2024 competition show Sunday night, July 7, with the most iconic international titleholders from the Philippines sharing the same stage in a massive opening presentation.

After breathing new life to the already iconic theme song, and giving it a more modern upbeat flavor, the kings of P-Pop created a new era to the national pageant by becoming the official voice of the contest, echoing inside the halls during every event, and with spectators singing along to the tune.

A whopping P1 million awaits each of the Binibining Pilipinas 2024 queens, the biggest prize money in the pageant’s 60-year history. And the reigning titleholders shared what they would do with such an amount that their would-be successors are set to receive.

“I would lie if I’m not jealous, of course. I wish I could come compete right now. First of all, I would like to save it, invest, and invest it in my journey for the international competition, of course,” reigning Bb. Pilipinas Globe Anna Valencia Lakrini told INQUIRER.net in a recent interview.

Jaws dropped when the Binibining Pilipinas pageant announced that the winners in its 2024 competition will each receive P1 million, the biggest prize money in its 60-year history.

The revelation was made at the press presentation held at the New Frontier Theater at the Araneta City in Quezon City on Friday, June 7, with members of the press and sponsors in attendance to see this year’s candidates.

To celebrate its 60th anniversary, the Binibining Pilipinas pageant showcased more traditional garbs at the national costume competition, where the ladies paraded in pared down attires depicting the country’s rich heritage, diverse culture, and masterful craftsmanship. The show was held at the jam-packed New Frontier Theater at the Araneta City in Quezon City on Tuesday, June 11.

In an era in Philippine pageantry that screams “go big, or go home” in costume competitions, the most-enduring national pageant in the country opted for more sublime pieces that did not require sky-high headdresses, weighty props, or mechanical parts. Only a few candidates deviated from the general vibe of the show, one with small wheels attached to a hoop sewn on her skirt’s hemline, and another one with a huge depiction of mountains and waterfalls propped on her shoulders.

The Binibining Pilipinas pageant kicked off its series of public events this year by gathering the 2024 aspirants with the reigning queens, and even former titleholders, in a showcase of Filipino fashion that also promotes sustainability.

Donning pieces made of recyclable and repurposed materials, the 40 candidates took the runway at the Quantum Skyview of Gateway Mall 2 at the Araneta City in Quezon City on May 16 for “Reinvent: A Sustainable Fashion Show,” directed by Bb. Pilipinas resident stylist Patrick Henry Mergano.

All four queens of the 2022 batch of the Binibining Pilipinas pageant were seen together on the same runway, to the delight of the spectators, for a special fashion show mounted for the 2024 competition.

Walking for different designers and together with several candidates of the 2024 Bb. Pilipinas pageant were 2023 Miss International third runner-up Nicole Borromeo, 2022 Bb. Since its inception in 1964, the Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. (BPCI) has championed the best of the Philippines through the winsome ladies it has produced that showcased the diverse beauty of Filipino women, whose grace and wit have enthralled the world.

The most enduring national pageant in the country has produced all of the Miss Universe winners from the Philippines, including the first Filipino woman to win the title in 1969, Gloria Diaz, who was followed by Margie Moran in 1973, Pia Wurtzbach in 2015 and Catriona Gray in 2018.

For the past 60 years, the Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. (BPCI) has cemented the Philippines’ status as an international pageant powerhouse with multiple wins in the biggest global competitions. But aside from crowns, the national organization’s queens have also brought home special awards.

The Philippines holds the record for having the most winners of the Miss Photogenic award in the Miss Universe pageant, courtesy of seven Binibining Pilipinas queens, starting with Vida Doria who received the accolade in the global tilt’s 1971 edition.

Ruffa Gutierrez has joined the already stellar lineup of hosts for the 2024 Binibining Pilipinas Grand Coronation Night, the national pageant organization announced on social media on Tuesday evening, July 2, after adding musicians TJ Monterde and Maki to the list of musical performers for the evening.

The pageant already announced during the preliminary events the return of 2018 Miss Universe Catriona Gray, 2016 Miss Grand International first runner-up Nicole Cordoves and 2014 Bb. Pilipinas Universe Mary Jean Lastimosa as hosts for this year’s finale show, with the addition of 2016 Miss International Kylie Verzosa to the all-female hosting team.

About three months since the selection of the official candidates of the 2024 Binibining Pilipinas pageant, the national competition is still anybody’s game, with popular bets facing tough competition from emerging frontrunners.

National pageant rookie Myrna Esguerra, who just relinquished her Miss Abra crown to her 2024 successor in March, has made quite an impression from pageant observers and fans, and has been running circles around the earlier favorites with her impactful showmanship.

The Binibining Pilipinas pageant is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, and seasoned aspirants have enlisted for a chance to be included in the elite roster of queens, among them are returnees and those who have already claimed titles in other competitions.

Trisha Martinez from Pila, Laguna, and Shaira Rona from Mandaluyong have returned to give another shot at finally becoming Bb. Pilipinas queens, while Bulacan’s Samantha Acosta has crossed over from the Miss Philippines Earth pageant.
