A whopping P1 million awaits each of the Binibining Pilipinas 2024 queens, the biggest prize money in the pageant’s 60-year history. And the reigning titleholders shared what they would do with such an amount that their would-be successors are set to receive.
“I would lie if I’m not jealous, of course. I wish I could come compete right now. First of all, I would like to save it, invest, and invest it in my journey for the international competition, of course,” reigning Bb. Pilipinas Globe Anna Valencia Lakrini told INQUIRER.net in a recent interview.
“With so much money you have the power to sustain yourself. Because I’m sustaining myself for now, it’s hard to find work. I’m actually working on being a boxing instructor right now to make a living. You know, it’s hard,” she continued.
Lakrini said such a huge amount would have definitely helped lessen her struggles. She also shared, “I want to be able to support my family in the future. But right now I have to make it myself, to get to the point where I can finally sustain and support my family as well.”
For reigning Bb. Pilipinas International Angelica Lopez, she would have spent half of the amount on herself and her family. “I would probably give the half of it to those less fortunate kids, less fortunate people. Because I believe that it would really help them most,” she said.
“I’m a person who always thinks that if I do things, it’s always for the greater good. So, I do things, my passion in life, my purpose, not only for myself, but also for the people around me,” she added.

One of the most important things is you’re always true and authentic to yourself, that you don’t try to be someone else, that you always stick to your values, to your core, your advocacy, and that you have not only yourself in mind, but also others,” Lakrini said.
“I think it’s also important that the next Bb. Pilipinas Globe has also, in mind, to help the people that are in need, to help her community, and do the best that she can with her title, and her advocacy as well,” she added.
Lopez said she would love to crown a successor with good character and compassion. “I’ve always thought that being a beauty queen is not only about how popular you are, or it’s not about the outer beauty. But it’s really important that you always spread love, kindness, and understanding around you,” she said.
Lakirini was proclaimed as second runner-up in The Miss Globe pageant in Albania last year, while Lopez is scheduled to represent the Philippines in the 62nd Miss International contest in Tokyo, Japan, in November.
