‘Drag Race’ star Shea Couleé cast in Marvel series ‘Ironheart’
“RuPaul’s Drag Race” star Shea Couleé is making her way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as she joined the cast of the upcoming Marvel series “Ironheart.”
The drag queen confirmed landing a role in the series on her Twitter page yesterday, Aug. 4.
“BEYOND excited to be strutting out of the Werkroom right into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Words cannot express how excited I am to be a part of this amazing project! Acting was my first love, and I’m thrilled to be doing it again in such a big way!” she said.

“Ironheart” will star Dominique Thorne as engineering genius Riri Williams, who in the comics created a suit of armor similar to the Marvel character Iron Man, as per Deadline last Wednesday, Aug. 3 (Aug. 4 in the Philippines).
Article continues after this advertisementActors Anthony Ramos, Alden Ehrenreich, Lyric Ross and Manny Montanaare are also part of the series’ cast, according to Variety, also last Wednesday. Meanwhile, Couleé’s role is yet to be revealed as of this writing.
Article continues after this advertisement“Ironheart” will be directed by Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes, while “Snowpiercer” screenwriter Chinaka Hodge is serving as head writer. Marvel is producing the series alongside Proximity, the production company founded by “Black Panther” filmmaker Ryan Coogler. The series is set to debut on Disney+ in 2023.
Couleé’s addition to the series comes after her stints in the reality drag competition “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” She won in the fifth season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” and finished as a finalist in the ninth season of the original “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” as well as in the special all winners season of “All Stars.” /ra
