Bea Alonzo speaks up on what Filipinos deserve ahead of elections

Bea Alonzo reminded the public of the kind of leader and governance they deserve, a few days ahead of the May 9 national elections.

The actress listed things that Filipinos deserve from the country’s top officials while showing a plain white photo on her Instagram page yesterday, May 6.

“You are worthy. You deserve a good quality of life. You deserve a chance to dream,” she said. “You deserve a quality education. You deserve to never go hungry. You deserve someone who will show up. You deserve the truth.”

“You deserve someone who will never steal from you. You deserve good governance. You deserve nothing less because YOU ARE A FILIPINO,” Alonzo added. “Ang boto ko ay para sa Pilipino (My vote is for Filipinos).”

Alonzo did not categorically declare support for a specific candidate, though she used a pink flower emoji and the hashtag “#IpanaloNa10ParaSaBayan,” which are associated with the presidential bid of Vice President Leni Robredo.

Fellow celebrities Angel Locsin and Jake Ejercito praised Alonzo for her reminder as they both sent her pink heart emoji.

Aside from Alonzo, celebrities who also recently gave advice to fans about the elections are Dingdong Dantes and Piolo Pascual.

For Dantes, the upcoming elections are about recovery and choosing a leader who is capable of addressing the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, among other problems. He also noted that the candidate that a person chooses is a representation of their values.

Meanwhile, Pascual urged the public to speak up and fight for their future as he believes being silent is a way of taking the side of those who oppress Filipinos.  /ra
