Danica Sotto recovers from COVID-19, urges public to obey quarantine protocols

Danica Sotto recounted her COVID-19 journey, while stressing the importance of getting vaccinated and following quarantine protocols.
Sotto announced she is now COVID-free, weeks after she tested positive for the novel coronavirus, on her Instagram page yesterday, Jan. 18. She recalled how she initially thought her symptoms were just side effects from her booster shot.
“I tested positive for [COVID-19 two] weeks ago, two days after my booster shot. I thought side effects lang ng booster but when I woke up with sore throat and body aches I knew I had to take another test at ‘yun na nga nag positive na (I thought they were just side effects from the booster shot but when I woke up with sore throat and body aches, I knew I had to take another test and then I tested positive),” she narrated.
Her husband Marc Pingris did not contract the virus, but unfortunately, their kids did. They experienced symptoms such as sore throat, body aches and fever.
Sotto then thanked those who helped and offered their prayers for their recovery. She also shared some of the things she learned from her COVID-19 experience. She stressed how there’s no shame in asking for help, and how vaccines are necessary to fight the virus.
“Having a healthy body is so important! Mas mabilis ang recovery (Makes recovery faster) and [please] get vaccinated,” she said. “Get help. There’s nothing to be ashamed of. Mas [okay] if may nasasabihan ka (It’s better to have someone who you can talk to).”
She then urged the public to strictly comply with health protocols and finish required quarantine periods.
“Follow the quarantine guidelines. Even if you feel ok na, tapusin ang quarantine (Even if you are already feeling better, finish the quarantine period). Some symptoms show up after [two to three] days pa,” she added.

Other celebrities who recently tested positive for COVID-19 are Ivana Alawi, Morissette Amon, Miriam Quiambo, and couple Troy Montero and Aubrey Miles. The Department of Health (DOH) has recorded 28,471 COVID-19 new cases yesterday, Jan. 18, bringing the total number of active cases to over 284,000 in the country. JB
