Pia Magalona paid tribute to her late husband, Francis Magalona, on what would have been his 57th birthday as she noted that his songs about inequality remain relevant to this day.

The celebrity mom broke her social media hiatus by showing a throwback photo with the Master Rapper on her Instagram page yesterday, Oct. 4.

Pia pointed out that the situation in the Philippines has changed “for the worse” not only because of the pandemic but also due to injustices that her husband used to write songs about.

Francis is known for his nationalistic songs, which called out social ills and lamented issues affecting the public. His tracks include “Nilamon ng Sistema,” “Higante,” “Mga Kababayan” and “Kaleidoscope World,” among others.

The Master Rapper passed away in March 2009, after being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in 2008. Francis and Pia had eight children: Unna, Nicolo, Maxene, Frank, Saab, Elmo, Arkin and Clara.  /ra
