Ely Buendia, Michael V. urge public to register, vote in elections: ‘Don’t let anyone bully you’
Ely Buendia and Michael V. are encouraging fans to become registered voters and cast their ballots in the upcoming 2022 national elections.
The former Eraserheads frontman told the public that they should “choose love and freedom” over “hate and repression” as he urged them to register to vote through his Twitter page today, Sept. 30.
“Don’t let anyone tell you you have no right to choose what’s best for you, your family or your nation. Don’t let anyone bully you into accepting their own ideology, that’s what dictators do,” he said.
Don’t let anyone tell you you have no right to choose what’s best for you, your family or your nation. Don’t let anyone bully you into accepting their own ideology, that’s what dictators do. Choose love and freedom, not hate and repression. We can make a difference REGISTER NOW.

Earlier in a Q&A series with fans on Twitter, after a fan asked him about whether there’s hope for an Eraserheads reunion, Buendia answered, “Pag tumakbo si Leni (If Leni Robredo runs for office).” He did not state which position Robredo should run for.

Meanwhile, Michael V. encouraged people to vote wisely through his Instagram page, also today. The comedian showed both his thumbs with purple ink, indicating he had registered.
“Sa gitna ng pandemic meron pa ring nagpa-rehistro. Hoping pa rin tayo na may isang kandidato na ‘pag naka-puwesto e hindi mang-aabuso, na ang uunahin e kapakanan ng tao,” he said.
(People are still getting registered amid the pandemic. We’re still hoping that there is one candidate who won’t abuse power, who would put the people’s well-being first.)
Michael V. also stressed that he is not telling others who to vote for, but hoped the public would use their hearts and minds when they cast their ballots.
“Ilang presidente pa ang gusto mong manloko? Ilang eleks’yon nang parang walang pagbabago?” he asked. “‘Wag na tayong magpa-uto! ‘Wag na tayong magpa-g*g* para hindi naman sana masayang ang boto.”
(How many presidents do you want to deceive you? How many elections have we gone through and nothing seems to have changed? Don’t be fooled so your vote doesn’t get wasted.)

The Commission on Elections recently approved the extension of the voter registration period until Oct. 31, from the initial Sept. 30 deadline. Initially it was not inclined to an extension due to the challenges it might create with the election timeline. /ra
