Actress Alessandra De Rossi and vlogger Banat By (real name: Byron Cristobal) have engaged in a word war after the former took a swipe at President Rodrigo Duterte’s activities during his recent two-week absence from the spotlight.

Banat By, a staunch supporter of the President, slammed De Rossi and called her “laos” (washed up) after the actress on April 11 tweeted: “11k cases naman. Di bumababa [crying emoji] Lord, heal us and lead us. Golf muna ako.”

(An additional 11,000 cases. It is not going down. Lord, heal us and lead us. I will go play golf now.)

“Grabeh iba talaga nagagawa ng walang project. Pag laos ka na talaga need umepal ng bongga. Sige tweet pa baka sakali mabuhay ang patay mong career @msderossi,” Banat By said on April 12, quoting De Rossi’s tweet.

(Having no project really does something to people. When you are no longer relevant you really need to chime in hard. Go and tweet some more, maybe you can revive your dead career @msderossi.)

De Rossi then hit back at the vlogger, noting that she has no projects right now by choice.

“Mas malala kung may project ka tapos iiwan mo lang sa ere. Di ako tumatanggap since [February] last year, para sa bayan. Bored ako! Buti nga nag-golf ako!” De Rossi tweeted.

(It is much better than having a project that you will just abandon. I have not been accepting projects since February last year, for the country. It is a good thing that I went golfing!)

“Award. Bayad (Paid) by,” De Rossi then tweeted, seemingly insinuating that the Duterte supporter is getting paid for attacking her.

After one netizen quipped that Banat By earned thousands of pesos once again because De Rossi responded, the actress noted that she is open to being the vlogger’s guest in his show.

“Dadagdagan ko 100k. Guest ako sa dun, nothing personal and political. Usap kami. Lalaki sa lalaki. Tao sa tao. Sorry hanggang 100 lang kaya ko. Wala nga work na tinanggap since 2020,” she said.

(I will add another P100,000. I will be his guest, nothing personal and political. We will talk. Man to man. Person to person. I am sorry I can only add up to P100,000. As I said I have not accepted work since 2020.)

“Pag ayaw, ako nalang mag-vlog hahaahahah para ma un-laos ako. Ayaw ko lang kasi (If he does not want to, I will be the one to vlog hahaha so I will be relevant again)!” De Rossi added.

Banat By then hit back at De Rossi, quoting her tweet and saying, “Daming hanas nito. Gawin mo [na lang] (This one talks too much. Just do it).” This is also his last tweet regarding the actress, as of this writing.

One netizen then tweeted at De Rossi, pointing out that the actress has been out of the limelight by choice, and yet Banat By still allots time for her.

“Yun nga eh. Nag-golf lang ako, galit na galit na sa akin! Bat sa akin (That’s the thing. I just went golfing, and he is so mad at me! Why me)?” De Rossi replied.

In the following tweet, De Rossi joked that she was just “following the leader,” referring to Duterte playing golf as seen in photos recently released by Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go.

Screenwriter Noreen Capili, meanwhile, defended De Rossi on Twitter also on April 12, stressing that De Rossi rejected many job offers out of her fear of COVID-19.

“Alam mo bang maraming projects na tinanggihan si @msderossi dahil una, takot siya sa virus at pangalawa, namimili siya ng projects,” she posted, quoting Banat By’s tweet.

(Do you know that there are many projects that @msderossi rejected because first of all, she is afraid of the virus and secondly, she chooses her projects.)

“Hindi kasi siya mukhang pera na tanggap lang nang tanggap. And also — kahit wala siyang projects, ang dami niya natulungan noong lockdown. FYI,” Capili added.

(She is not so greedy as to accept just any offer that comes her way. And also, even if she does not have projects, she has helped many people during the lockdown.)

A netizen who goes by the Twitter handle @mc_Z8T then slammed De Rossi’s decision to not work during the pandemic out of fear, calling her “pa-woke.”

“Ayoko dumagdag sa cases. Ayoko makahawa ng tao at magkaproblema pamilya nila. Ayokong unahin ako sa hospital dahil artista ako. Ayoko,” De Rossi struck back.

(I do not want to add to the cases. I do not want to infect others and their families. I do not want to be prioritized in hospitals just because I am an actress. I do not want to.)

In her following tweets, De Rossi shared screenshots of the job offers she recently got, stressing that she even got to reject two job offers in less than a day.

Before her feud with Banat By, De Rossi made headlines after criticizing Duterte’s alleged golfing and jogging activities earlier this month, emphasizing, “We need support. Not sports.”  /ra
