Hajji Alejandro spent his final hours with his family and his longtime partner, singer Alynna Velasquez, who lamented the OPM icon’s passing a day before they celebrate their 27th anniversary as a couple.
Velasquez penned a message to honor Hajji and recall their moments prior to his death on Monday, April 21, through her Instagram page on Tuesday, April 22.
“My love, we spent the last [eight] days of your life together,” she said, expressing her gratitude to his children Rachel and Ali for reaching out to her.
It can be recalled that Velasquez and Hajji’s family had a “conflict” after the late singer’s hospitalization, which prompted her to leave his house.
“I have been waiting,” Velasquez continued. “I think of you every hour of every day.”
Velasquez then recounted Hajji’s two-month ordeal with stage 4 colon cancer, revealing that the late singer opted to be brought home rather than receive further treatments at the hospital.
“You refused another trip to the hospital and chose palliative care instead, in the comforts of your home, in the company of people you love. You knew you were leaving us soon,” she said.
“We listened to our favorite songs and we both had tears in our eyes. Your precious voice has been impaired because CA had constricted your respiratory system as well,” she recounted. “But I felt your love even without words. And despite the pain, restlessness and hallucinations, you tried to hold my hand.”
Velasquez underscored that Hajji is no longer in pain and is already with God.
“Love ko, you tried to hold on. You know it is our special day today. But your human body gave up on you,” she wrote.
“April 22, 2025—Happy 27th Anniversary, my one and only love, Hajji Alejandro,” she continued. “See you in God’s time. I love you eternally.”
