LOOK: Gretchen Ho gives bike to street cleaner
Gretchen Ho gave one foldable bicycle to a street sweeper in Cubao, Quezon City to help him provide for his kids amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The cleaner, whom Ho calls Tatay (father) Bong, will attach a cart to the bike and use it to become a fishball vendor. The new job will allow him to watch over his kids while they study at home, she said on her Facebook page last Monday, Oct. 19.
Ho explained that Tatay Bong and his children have been living in a modest room with no water and electricity for years. Due to the lack of light, the children have no choice but to study under a post outside of their house just to keep up with distance learning.
Tatay Bong and his family were then given a new solar lamp as well, from the group “Quarantine Tribute Tips.” The TV host mentioned that while they were installing it, the father had slipped in the dark.
“OK naman siya,” Ho assured her followers. “Biniro ko na lang. Sabi ko, ‘tay, sa bawat sakit may ginhawa.”

Along with the new bike and solar lamp, the family also received groceries, an electric fan, a gas stove, solar lights and a cart.
“Ang galing dahil mga donation ito galing sa netizens,” Ho pointed out.
(It is so great because these donations came from netizens.)
Aside from providing Tatay Bong with a new bike, Ho also gave 50 bikes to residents of Pasig City last month with the aid of Catriona Gray. The donations are part of Ho’s “Donate a bike, save a job” project to help those in need amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. JB
