Nadine Lustre has taken a stand with her fellow ABS-CBN artists and workers, days after its application for a franchise renewal was denied by Congress.

“Gaya ninyo, [K]apamilya din ako. Gaya ninyo, natatakot ako sa mga nangyayari,” the actress said on her Instagram Stories yesterday, July 19.

“Gaya ninyo, nalungkot din ako para sa 11,000+ na taong nawalan ng trabaho. Gaya ninyo, umiiyak ako para sa sariling bansa,” she added. “Dahil gaya ninyo, Pilipino din ako.”

She then stressed that she supports those fighting for her home network, saying, “Kasama ako sa laban na ito (I am part of this fight).”

“Pakiusap, huwag tayong magaway away at maghati,” Lustre added. “Wala na tayong oras.”

Prior to Lustre’s show of support for her home network, Angel Locsin urged celebrities who have remained silent on the shutdown of ABS-CBN to speak up.

“Naiintindihan ko, tayong mga artista, expected na dapat tahimik lang tayo. Dapat sweet lang tayo, dapat neutral para walang kalaban,” Locsin said during a noise barrage outside ABS-CBN headquarters in Quezon City on July 18.

(I understand that we actors are expected to be quiet. We should be sweet, we should be neutral so that we don’t have enemies.)

“Pero pag hindi tayo nagsalita, ibig sabihin no’n, kinampihan natin ang mali.”

(But if we don’t speak, it means we side with what is wrong.)

Along with Locsin, other celebrities such as Enchong Dee and Lauren Young have also encouraged artists to express their opinions on the denial of the media company’s franchise renewal. JB
