Singer Frankie Pangilinan explained to the public that criticizing the government is a way of demanding better service, contrary to wishing for its failure.

After a netizen asked Pangilinan to read a quote urging people to “stop acting better than the president” and to “not wish for [the government’s] failure,” the 19-year-old clarified her take on criticism.

She further stated through the following tweet that the subject is a lot more complex than just having to pick two opposite sides.

“[Y’all] think it’s THIS kind of black and white?? [We] don’t WANT to criticize anyone who [the f*ck] wants to criticize anyone???” she stressed.

“[But] we have to [because] it’s our duty as [Filipino] citizens to demand better from a system and an administration that consistently screws our people over,” Pangilinan added.

Pangilinan, daughter of Megastar Sharon Cuneta and Sen. Francis Pangilinan, has been one of the most vocal celebrities when it comes to social and political issues.

Pangilinan noted that “it’s not politics, it’s principles,” explaining in another set of tweets that she has had enough of being accused as biased.

“[I’m] so done with people calling partisanship when it could all fundamentally boil down to one thing — where do you stand in the face of mass murder? [Wake] up,” she stressed.

Pangilinan’s mother, meanwhile, has taken to social media to defend her family, especially her husband, after trolls have allegedly targeted the senator in an ouster plot. JB
