Solenn Heussaff brought her eye for design to her firstborn’s room, making it a zen tropical paradise that baby Thylane can grow up in.

The actress and artist designed parts of the room herself and made sure it has Filipino touches with designs and handiwork by Filipinos too. She credited the work of Hurray Interior Design Group in making her vision come to life.

Heussaff, relaxed even as a mom, toured the room while breastfeeding in her vlog yesterday, Jan. 24. Describing the room, she said, “I’m very much into [the] jungle and the tropics and anything green at the moment. That’s kind of the look I was going for with proud Pinoy touches as well since of course, Pilipino ako (I am a Filipino).”

She added in her blog, “It doesn’t look like most baby rooms, but that’s something we wanted so the room can kind of grow with her. Less changes and renovations to make in the long run.”

The room is colored in a calming shade of sage green with one wall accented with a jungle wallpaper by Studio 11 Interior Products. She said it doubles as a headboard for a bigger bed when her daughter grows up, but for now, the crib stands in front of it.

Rattan is also a common theme in the room. Rattan shelves from Pampanga-based furniture maker Albero hold stuffed toys, books and plants. Heussaff also looked to Cebu for stylish pieces such as a light shade from Arte Cebuana and a rack with movable shelves by Vito Selma.

The new mom’s own decorating touches include baskets recycled from Christmas gifts and her own French heritage in a bunny night light and llama mobile from Paris.

Heussaff designed a closet and changing table and had it manufactured by Pampanga-based furniture maker More Than a Chair.

She said that she hardly bought clothes for her own daughter, but that she received so many gifts that the closet is filled with rows of clothes. “She’s very spoiled and very lucky,” she commented.

The actress’s designs are also seen in her baby’s bedsheet and carpet. She shared that she is working on a line called Abode by Studio Soliven, which specializes in bedsheets for cribs and carpets for baby’s rooms. The bedsheet seen in the video features a pattern of Filipino traditional costumes.

With a room like this, it’s no wonder Heussaff would rather stay home with baby Thylane these days!  /ra
