FDCP wants Sept. declared Movie Industry Month

The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) has urged lawmakers to pass a law declaring September Philippine Movie Industry Month.
FDCP made the call as the country celebrated 100 years of Philippine cinema this year.
FDCP chair Liza Diño said she was hopeful that Congress would pass a measure declaring Philippine Movie Industry Month and institutionalizing the celebration of the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino.
“We hope and we aspire that we can enjoin our legislators to, hopefully, declare September Philippine Movie Industry Month and for the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino to be institutionalized as the celebration of the Philippine Movie Industry Month,” Diño said at a press briefing in Malacañang.
Last year, President Duterte signed Proclamation No. 622, declaring Sept. 12, 2019, to Sept. 11, 2020, the centennial year of Philippine movies.
FDCP will honor luminaries in Philippine cinema including various directors, actors and crew, Diño said.
In line with the yearlong celebration, FDCP will hold the third Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino, which screens 10 Filipino films in cinemas across the country from Sept. 13 to 19.
These 10 films are: “Cuddle Weather” by Rod Marmol; “LSS” (Last Song Syndrome) by Jade Castro; “The Panti Sisters” by Jun Robles Lana; “I’m Ellenya L.” by Boy 2 Quizon;
“G!” by Dondon Santos; “Open” by Andoy Ranay; “Watch Me Kill” by Tyrone Acierto; “Circa” by Adolfo Borinaga Alix Jr.; “Lola Igna” by Eduardo Roy Jr.; and “Pagbalik” by Hubert Tibi and Maria S. Ranillo.
