Sarah on why she likes role in latest film: It’s about self-love
Pop Princess Sarah Geronimo swears that long before she was tapped to be the endorser of the bread brand Gardenia, it has always been her favorite. The letter G in Sarah G could very well stand for “Gardenia.”
Sarah recently led the festivities at the inauguration of the state-of-the-art bread factory in Pampanga with the theme, “Bake to the Future 2.0.” Gardenia president Jun Umali explained, “We opened two huge factories in a span of four months. It’s a milestone for the brand in its 21 years in the industry.”
The event also served as a birthday celebration for Sarah. As for the letter G in Sarah G that stands for “Guidicelli” (surname of Sarah’s boyfriend, Matteo), it isn’t going to happen yet, even if both of them are already of marrying age.
For now, all they can do is keep their love fresh and hot daily, just like Sarah’s choice of bread.
Here’s my chat with Sarah:
Article continues after this advertisementWhat has fame taught you? I’ve realized that fame is nothing. It’s just a bonus for my hard work since I was young. It’s family that matters the most to me.
Article continues after this advertisementWhat’s the best and toughest part of being Sarah G? The best part is being given so many opportunities to make people happy. Even simple things, like posing for selfies with my fans, mean a lot to them. It feels good to know that my songs and movies are also part of their life journey. The toughest part is time management. If only I could be in three places at the same time…
Among all the roles you’ve portrayed, which one can you relate to the most? Surprisingly, every role I’ve played. I see a part of me in them. Especially my role in my upcoming movie, “Unforgettable.” It is about self-love. Focusing on our strengths and not our weaknesses.
What was your birthday gift to yourself? I took a day off. With my hectic schedule, rest is a luxury. (Sarah chuckled when I told her, “You should spoil yourself after working too hard all these years.”)
What are your simple joys and lavish pleasures? I enjoy pigging out. I splurge on things I love, like perfume.
If you were bread, what kind would you be? The white classic one. Just like it, I’m simple and such a softie.
What don’t people know about Sarah G? That I’m a perfectionist and an idealist. That’s why I have a tendency to get disappointed. I have to remind myself that nobody’s perfect. We all keep evolving. I always want to outdo myself in every performance.
PERSONAL: Muchisimas gracias to my dear ninang Jen Caberte for her endless kindness.
