While pregnancy is the beginning of a new life, it comes with a mother’s physical and mental sacrifice—and Neri Naig can attest to this.

The actress looked back on her experiences when she was bearing her son Miggy, accompanied by a photo of her warts, as seen in her Instagram post on Monday, June 17.

“Sa lahat ng mga nanay, magegets siguro kung bakit ako meron nito,” she said.

“Nung nagbuntis ako, nagkaroon ako ng warts at dumami,” Naig narrated. “Hanggang nanganak na ako at dalawang taon na anak ko, di ko pa napapatanggal. Kanina lang ako nagka-oras.”

(When I was pregnant, I had a lot of warts. Even if I gave birth [to my son] and he is now two years old, I have not gotten them removed yet. I only got the time now.)

The actress also talked about how pregnancy affected her hormones, saying, “Iba talaga ang hormones lalo na pag nagbuntis. Ang daming nagbabago sa katawan ng mga nanay, maraming sakripisyo.”

(Our hormones experience many changes. Mothers experience a lot of changes in their bodies and it entails a lot of sacrifices.)

“Andyan yung lolobo ka talaga. Maiiba ang nipples mo. Lalaki boobs mo na parang lobo talaga. Stretch marks! May mangingitim sa ibang parte ng katawan mo,” Naig said. “Makulimlim ang kilikili! Haha! Mag-iiba ang amoy kapag buntis. May times na ayaw maligo.”

(You will gain weight. Your nipples will change. Your breasts will really look like balloons. Stretch marks! There are parts of your body that will darken. Your armpits will become dark! You will smell different when you are pregnant. There will be times when you do not want to take a bath.)

Although the actress admitted that pregnancy was difficult, she believes that every sacrifice was worth it.

“Hindi ko tinatakot yung mga di pa mommies! Sobrang worth it ang lahat ng yun. Balewala talaga lalo na mayakap mo ang anak mo. Iba. Ang sarap maging ina,” she assured.

(I am not scaring those who are not mothers yet! It was all worth it. They are nothing compared to the feeling of being hugged by your child. It is different. It is great to be a mother!)

Naig is currently living with her son and husband Chito Miranda and is managing her restaurant business in Tagaytay. NVG
