Original Sexbomb dancer Mia Pangyarihan is now the proud owner of her second restaurant business.

Pangyarihan’s Japanese and Korean fusion restaurant Yoshimeatsu in Tomas Morato, Quezon City, had its grand opening last Oct. 18, according to a post on its Instagram account. However, the store had its soft opening sometime early September.

Pangyarihan said she drew inspiration for the new resto from her love of Korean barbecue restaurants, which have steadily grown in popularity.

“Naisip ko itong business ko early this year, parang nauso kasi diba ang mga Korean restaurant? Tapos every other day, lagi akong nasa Korean restaurants. Tapos naisip ko lang na, ‘parang gusto ko magtayo ng ganito,” said the former Sexbomb dancer in an interview with PUSH.

(I had the idea for this business early this year, because Korean restaurants were trending right? Then every other day, I’m always at Korean restaurants. Then I thought, “I want to start a business like this.”)

“Kasi nakikita ko ‘yung pila, ‘yung pasensya ng tao na maghintay nang mahabang oras, at isa din ako sa mga nakikipila doon.”

(Because I see the lines, the patience that customers have while waiting for their turn, and I’m one of those patient people.)

Running a business, let alone two at the same time, is not an easy thing to do, and Pangyarihan drew from the discipline she learned from her days as a Sexbomb dancer.

“Ang maganda lang sa ’kin dito, parang yung disiplina ko noon sa pagsasayaw, na-adapt ko na din dito, parang pwede ko pala i-apply ang mga naging disiplina ko noon sa pagsasayaw,” explained Pangyarihan.

(The good thing about this, the discipline I learned from dancing I managed to adopt here. It’s like I realized you could apply the discipline I learned from dancing to running a business.)

Pangyarihan first ventured into the world of restaurant management around the same time in 2017 when she put up the modern Szechuan fusion resto Templo in Banawe, Quezon City. Templo’s Facebook page described its menu as a modern twist of family recipes passed down from Chinese ancestors in Szechuan. As suggested by its origins, Templo specializes in a variety of spicy dishes with twists made to appeal to the modern palate.

Meanwhile, Pangyarihan said she is enjoying the stress and effort she is putting in running her new business.

“Sobra akong nag-eenjoy sa bagong journey na ito sa buhay ko yung stress, na eenjoy ko ‘yung pagod, siguro nga kasi bago siya sakin lahat,” said Pangyarihan.

(I’m really enjoying the stress this new journey in my life brings. I enjoy the effort, maybe because it’s all new to me.)

It also helped that her former Sexbomb colleagues continue to give their unwavering support.

In the end, Pangyarihan said the business and all her efforts are parts of her plan to eventually build her own family.  Alfred Bayle /ra
