Chienna Filomeno was among the stars last Saturday, Sept. 29 to grace the ABS-CBN Ball in Makati Shangri-La.

The Girltrends member wore a Boom Sason creation with a plunging neckline and glittering crystal beadwork, along with a sheer cape billowing behind her, as seen in a video on Instagram.

Filomeno wore her ensemble confidently — shimmering makeup and a wavy ponytail completed her ethereal look. But others chose to point out what they saw were flaws in her body.

She was particularly criticized for appearing too skinny and for her flat chest, but the actress chose to respond with humor and positivity.

Filomeno shared a picture of her mid-laugh with the caption, “Flat man ko pero fab pa rin, dzaii.” (I’m flat-chested but still fabulous.)

Fans and followers were quick to come in her defense.

“Si Chienna yung tropa mong kahit di malaki boobs lalaban pa din!” said mi rae (@_danielarosee). (Chienna is that friend who will fight even if her boobs aren’t big!)

“Oo naman!!! (Of course!) Confidence,” replied Filomeno.

She said to another sympathizer: “Makalagot jud! Abi nimo perfect sila no? Wa lang sila kabalo na kusog jud ta mukaon pero naa juy tao na paspas ang metabolism dzaaaiii!”

(It’s so annoying! It’s as if they’re perfect, right? They don’t know that we eat a lot but there are people who have fast metabolism.)

Today, Oct. 1, Filomeno shared a statement about body-shaming.

“How sad that there are so many cruel people in this amazing universe and that some girls are bringing each other down when we should be the [ones] lifting each other up,” she wrote.

“Body shaming is not okay, it’ll never be okay… Fat or skinny may it be a woman or a man,” she said.

“Stop talking about fat or skinny women or men like their bodies are a tragedy,” she urged. “Their bodies are beautiful. Every body is beautiful.” JB
