Star Wars actor Billy Dee Williams to reprise Lando in Episode IX

After a part of Lando Calrissian’s history was traced in last May’s “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” the character’s original actor, Billy Dee Williams, is set to reprise the role in an upcoming Star Wars film.

Lando first appeared in the second Star Wars movie “Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back” released in 1980. He is introduced as smuggler Han Solo’s “old friend.”

A smuggler and gambler too, he is the original owner of the starship the Millennium Falcon before losing it in a game to Han, as revealed in “Solo,” wherein Donald Glover played Lando.

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Lando will appear in “Episode IX,” the next Star Wars installment to be directed by J.J. Abrams. Shooting begins this month.

The film’s cast includes Daisy Ridley (Rey), John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron) and Adam Driver (Kylo Ren). Variety reports that Keri Russell is in talks to be in the final part of the trilogy.
