Rufa Mae Quinto mourns passing of ‘mommy Carol’: ‘It hurts to lose a mother’

Rufa Mae Quinto mourned the death of her mommy Carol who passed away just before the comedienne’s birthday.

Quinto shared a recent snapshot of herself with her daughter Alexandria and mommy Carol on Instagram, May 26. She wrote on the caption, “Ang picture na ito kuha 2 weeks ago kasi 3 generations kami dito. Ito na pala ang last picture natin pero forever we will miss you. Birthday ko pa naman.”

(This picture was taken two weeks ago because there’s three generations of our family together [here]. I didn’t realize this would be our last picture together but we will miss you forever. And it’s my birthday.)

Quinto will be celebrating her birthday on May 28.

She also wrote, “Lagi ko tatandaan yung sinabi mo na wag ka matakot, maging matapang ka para sa anak mo. Ang sakit mawalan ng ina.

(I’ll always remember what you told me, to be strong for your child. It hurts to lose a mother.)

Quinto also shared today, May 27, an Instagram post made by her sister Gie Jan Sy. Her sister looked back in appreciation at how mommy Carol stood as both mother and father to Quinto and her six siblings. She also lamented on no longer having mommy Carol around to talk to when happy or sad, and to hug when going to sleep. Quinto couldn’t help but agree with her sister and wrote, “Nakakaiyak pero totoo (It makes me cry but it’s true.)

Lastly, Quinto felt grateful that mommy Carol still witnessed important milestones before she passed away.

She wrote, “[At least] pumikit ka lang at natulog. Nakita mo ang apo mo. Naka attend ka ng first birthday ni @alexandriamagallanes at nakita mo ako kinasal. Lumagay sya [sa] tahimik. Kaya ikaw din, tahimik na.”

(At least just close your eyes and go to sleep. You met your granddaughter. You attended the first birthday of @alexandriamagallanes and you saw me get married and settle down. You could rest now, too.) JB
