THESE DAYS, all it takes for a comebacking actor to make it big again is a popular teleserye. It’s worked with Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta, resulting in the public’s renewed interest in their love team.

Another actor who’s enjoying a second wind in his show biz career is Ian Veneracion. Every now and then, he would do mostly supporting roles—then, the teleserye “Pangako Sa ‘Yo,” came along—and the rest is show biz history: The TV drama “discovered” the undeniable chemistry between Ian and Jodi Sta. Ian started out as a child actor and later made movies for Seiko Films. He recalls, “Shooting a movie was fun—I just had to follow what the director told me to do. It was like going to school and doing your homework. My parents took care of the rest. I am lucky because I enjoyed my childhood and grew up like any normal boy.”

Today, Ian is more focused on characterization. After “The Achy Breaky Hearts,” he’s set to topbill a new drama series, “The Second Wife”—with Bea Alonzo and Iza Clazado “fighting” over him!
