Farm tourism
THE COUNTRY’S emerging farm tourism sector is inviting land owners and farmers to attend the three-day Fourth Tourism Conference at Summit Ridge Hotel in Tagaytay City on July 14-16 (call 834-2994, or e-mail info@isstphillipines. edu.ph). It is organized by International School of Sustainable Tourism (ISST) president Dr. Mina Gabor, who said that the event will focus on low-impact travel that will socially and economically empower local communities.
Its speakers are trailblazers in farm tourism, like Cathy Turvill of Nurture Wellness Village in Tagaytay City; Robert Yupangco, who owns Paradizoo Farm in Tagaytay, and Nenette Aguirre Graf of Motag Living Museum in Aklan.
Other speakers: Cynthia Villar, Siriwat Wongsiri, Julian Gonzalves, Aristeo Portugal and Ramon Peñalosa Jr.
Participants will visit three farms in Tagaytay and will take part in a session with expert panelists on honeybee propagation, marketing and promotions, basic layout of farm-tourism destinations and creating tour packages. They will also visit successful farms in Cavite. Join the conference and get started on your own theme farm.
