Comic Rex Navarrete back on Valentine’s Day weekend at Teatrino
MANILA – Fil-Am comic Rex Navarrete returns to Teatrino at the Promenade in Greenhills for a limited two-night engagement entitled “LOL: Laughs Of Love” on Valentine’s weekend, February 13 and 14 at 8:30 p.m.
Fresh from his sold-out three-night series at the same venue back in November 2014, Navarrete is back for a reprise of his phenomenally successful stint, this time offering alternative entertainment during Valentine season when concerts are the usual fare.
His one-night show (November 21) sold out barely two weeks after its announcement so that a second show had to be added. The second show sold out almost immediately too, making way for a third performance.
It didn’t matter that the additional shows were early in the workweek — three jampacked shows in ten days. The audience just couldn’t get enough. And that is why Navarrete gladly obliged when the opportunity to perform at Teatrino came up again.
Navarrete’s comedy is all about reality and shared life experiences. Much of his material is about being a Fil-Am growing up in America. A very traditional Filipino family navigating a very American way of life makes for funny consequences. And that’s what is so relatable about his anecdotes.
A first-time-audience-turned-loyal-fan muses, “Rex is extremely talented and intelligent. His insightfulness on the traits and quirks of Filipinos provides our otherwise stressful world with humorous antidotes and non-stop laughter.”

He’s not much different from a singer with hit songs. You just want to hear him tell it again. And you want to bring friends over to his show so they can hear it themselves and laugh along with you.”

Navarrete has released comedy CD’s that include “Badly Browned” (1998), “Husky Boy” (1999), “Bastos” (2001) and “Live at Cobb’s” (2010). These have become collectors’ items along with his DVD titles “Hella Pinoy” (2003), “Badass Madapaka” (2005), and “Komik Organik” (2009).
