Claudine Barretto revealed that her parents’ house in Subic, Zambales, got robbed, resulting in her 88-year-old mother, Estrella “Inday” Castelo Barretto, almost being sent to the intensive care unit (ICU).

During the press conference of her new drama “Sinag” on Monday, May 6, Barretto detailed how the newly renovated house of her parents was robbed, sharing that the thieves have yet to be found by the authorities.

“Nilooban ‘yung bahay ng mommy at daddy ko. Lahat ‘yun, kasi pinaayos ni Gretchen. Lahat ng mga kagamitan doon bago, pina-landscape pa niya, lahat ‘yun milyun-milyon (ang halaga),” she shared.

“The best TVs, mga aircon, lahat-lahat! And in four days with the audacity and the nerve ng mga magnanakaw, nawala na ‘yun and nagkahabulan pa sila (mga suspek) ng mga pulis, pero hanggang ngayon hindi pa rin sila nahuhuli, wala pang development,” continued the actress.

Claudine revealed that her parents’ house was not the only one that had been robbed—even the nearby home of her talent manager, Arnold Vegafria. She then shared that the stress brought about by the robbery led to her mother’s blood pressure to go up to the point that it was already critical.

“This sent my mom almost to the ICU. I almost lost my mom. Kung hindi nakita ni Noah (adoptive son niya), kasi nasa hotel kami that time. So, kung hindi nakita ni Noah ‘yung mommy ko nakaganyan (nakayuko), malamang wala na ‘yung mommy ko,” she explained.

(If Noah, her adoptive son, didn’t see it, it was because we were in the hotel at that time. So, if Noah didn’t see my mommy like that bent down, my mommy is probably gone by now.)

The “Lovers & Liars” actress remarked that right now it’s her main priority to take care of her mother.

“So, ‘yun talaga ang pinaka ano ko ngayon, asikasuhin muna ang mommy ko kasi she’s 88 already. Para sa akin kasi, at lagi ko naman itong sinasabi, na responsibilidad ng anak na alagaan ang magulang. Kung hindi financially, be there, just be there for them,” Claudine declared.

(So, that’s really what I’m doing right now: take care of my mommy first because she’s 88 already. For me, and I always say this, it is the child’s responsibility to take care of their parents. If not financially, be there; just be there for them.)
