“Pinoy Big Brother” (PBB) Gen 11 stars Sofia “Fyang” Smith and JM Ibarra are among the voice cast members of the upcoming Tagalized version of the South Korean film “Picnic.”
The duo’s casting was announced on the social media pages of film production company Nathan Studios on Wednesday night, March 26.
Smith and Ibarra will be joined by veteran stars Nova Villa, Ces Quesada and Bodjie Pascua as the film is slated to be released in cinemas in May.
On her Instagram page, Quesada described the film as “heart-warming.” It tells the story of “friendship and growing old” as she and Villa will assume the role of “best friends in their twilight years.”

The original film grossed $2.2 million at the box office with a running total of 331,489 tickets sold, exceeding the break-even point of 270,000 admissions in South Korea.
The Korean version is headlined by award-winning star Na Moon-hee, oldest Korean actress Kim Young-ok, and seasoned actor Park Geun-hyung.
“Picnic” follows Eun Sim (Moon-hee), at the age of eighty, who returns to her hometown after more than sixty years. She reunites with her old friends Geum Soon (Young-ok) and Tae Ho (Geun-hyung).
The Filipino-dubbed version is set to mark Smith and Ibarra’s initial big screen debut after their first on-screen feature in the music video of Regine Velasquez’s “Wherever You Are” in January.
The pair’s on-screen partnership began during their time on “PBB Gen 11,” where Smith emerged as the season’s Big Winner.
In a previous interview, Smith teased the look of her 2025 calendar, indicating ongoing and future projects, both solo and with Ibarra.
