TV host Robi Domingo is pushing back against an online troll who threatened to bash him “from head to foot” if he would pursue “shipping” Kathryn Bernardo and Donny Pangilinan.

Domingo recently visited the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to call for accountability in online behavior after a troll, posing as a fan of the on-screen duo, DonBelle — the onscreen love team of Pangilinan and Belle Mariano — lashed out on him with threats.

The incident stemmed an announcement by reality show “Pilipinas Got Talent” a week ago when Domingo and fellow host Melai Cantiveros revealed that Bernardo and Pangilinan would be the new judges for its seventh season.

FEATURED STORIES

Domingo posted about his hosting stint on Instagram, where a fan tried to “threaten” the TV host to not attempt to match Pangilinan and Bernardo together.

“Ay subukan mo lang na i-match si [@donny] at [@bernardokath] ready ready ang solid supporters ni Belle Mariano na ibash ka mula ulo mo hanggang paa. WAG MO ITOLERATE ‘yung KALANDIAN ng peste mong kaibigan,” the fan lamented in a now deleted comment.

(Don’t even try to match [Donny] and [Kathryn] because solid supporters of Belle Mariano are ready to bash you from head to toe. DON’T TOLERATE the flirting behavior of your pest friend.)

Domingo responded by stressing that he does not tolerate such behavior, writing, “Can I consider this as a threat? Can I take legal actions against this? I don’t tolerate this behavior.”

The account has no profile picture nor followers or following, making other fans reason that it might be a troll account posing as a fan to put the artist, especially Mariano in bad light.

After the online exchange, Domingo shared on his Instagram page on Thursday, Feb. 27 that he dropped by the NBI headquarters to meet Chief Bomediano and Atty. Tucay regarding digital complaints.

The “PPB host” included photos of him posing in front of the NBI signage, as well as one image of him standing behind the signs of “SPECIAL TASK FORCE” and “CYBERCRIME DIVISION.”

Domingo then shared the lessons he learned from his conversation with the NBI executives, yet did not disclose if he made a formal complaint against the troll.

“1. You can file a complaint against any government agency, especially if your safety is at risk. It’s free to file. 2. Always take screenshots of your complaint and the URL. Even if it’s deleted, the digital trace is still there. (If someone deletes it, it could show intent.) 3. Whether it’s a troll or not, there’s a real person behind the screen, and they are still responsible for their actions. Remember, every action has consequences, whether online or offline. Let’s be kind and take responsibility,” he stated.

The video jockey and actor also clarified that he did not delete the troll’s comment in his earlier post.

“BTW, I didn’t delete the comment the troll made. It was him/her who removed it from the comment section thus deleting the whole thread. (Also, it may become additional proof of intent because of malice.),” he said.
