Melai Cantiveros and Robi Domingo are set to pick up the hosting duties for the upcoming new season of “Pilipinas Got Talent” (PGT) almost seven years since it last aired on television.
The duo’s hosting gig for the seventh season of the reality competition was confirmed on Thursday, Feb. 20, on PGT’s social media accounts. Both stars will serve as first-time hosts of the show.
Cantiveros celebrated the news on her Instagram page, saying “never in her wildest dreams” did she see herself being tapped to host PGT.
“And yes kami na nga at wala narin kayong magagawa naka advance payment na kami char lang,” the actress-host joked. “Wala sa wildest dream ko na maging host ako sa PGT pero talagang plinano ni Lord na ma-try ko ito.”
(And yes, it’s us and there is nothing you can do about it because we already asked for advance payment, just kidding. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that I would be asked to host PGT, but the Lord really planned for it.)

The “Magandang Buhay” host then extended her gratitude to the people who believed in her and made her hosting dream possible.
In the comments section, fellow celebrities Bianca Gonzalez and Regine Velasquez, among others, congratulated Cantiveros for the milestone.
“Proud of you sobra at deserve na deserve mo ‘to. Love you both! Cheering for you always!!!!” commented Gonzalez.
“Congratulations, day!!!!!!! We are so proud of you,” said Velasquez.

Meanwhile, Domingo, also shared his and Cantiveros’ photos during the hosting announcement on his Instagram Stories.
Last month, PGT announced that they would be holding auditions in Manila, saying that it’s open to any aspirant with no age limit, and the “acts could be a solo, duo or group performance.”
“Pilipinas Got Talent” first aired in 2010 and and declared the late singer Jovit Baldivino as the winner.
