Kwon Ji-yong — best known as G-Dragon — released his third studio album “Übermensch” after more than 12 years, which aims to show the artist as a “stronger and more resilient” version of himself.
The album, which was released on Tuesday, February 25, contains eight tracks: “Home Sweet Home (feat. Taeyang and Daesung),” “Power,” “Too Bad (with Anderson .Paak),” “Drama,” “Ibelongiiu,” “Take Me,” “Bonamana,” and “Gyro-Drop.”
“‘Übermensch’ means ‘Beyond-Man,’ representing an individual who transcends themselves,” G-Dragon said in a press statement. “This album embodies the idea of presenting a stronger and more resilient version of oneself to the public. I hope this strength resonates with my fans through my music.”
“Übermensch” is G-Dragon’s first studio album after joining Galaxy Corporation in December 2023. Aside from Galaxy, it was also co-released with the record label Empire.
To celebrate the album’s release, the singer-songwriter dropped the music videos of “Drama” and “Too Bad (with Anderson .Paak),” where the latter featured aespa’s Karina and dancer-choreographer Bada Lee.
G-Dragon will embark on a global tour kicking off in Seoul, South Korea in March with additional legs yet to be announced. Other additional activities include a headline performance at the “Head in the Clouds Festival” in Los Angeles, California, and a co-headline performance with Elton John at the Singapore Grand Prix in May and October of this year, respectively.
G-Dragon gained prominence as a member of the K-pop megastars BigBang, where he debuted as the leader, main rapper, and vocalist in August 2006. The group is currently composed of the singer-songwriter, Taeyang, and Daesung.
