Belle Mariano is ready to take the spotlight on her own as she prepares for her solo project with director Cathy Garcia-Sampana, after years of being one-half of the onscreen duo, DonBelle, with actor Donny Pangilinan.
On her Instagram page, Mariano reshared Star Cinema’s post of her meeting with Garcia-Sampana on Tuesday, Feb. 25, where they discussed their upcoming movie, alongside executives from ABS-CBN Films.
Garcia-Sampana previously worked behind the scenes on some of the actress’ projects with on-screen partner Donny Pangilinan, but this will mark her first collaboration with Mariano for a full-length feature.
Mariano underscored that this project is set to mark a bold step or “growth” in her career.
“This is gonna be an unusual setup. It’s my first time doing a film with Direk. For a while, I’ve been working with Donny for so long. This is the first time na gagawa ako ng film on my own, I would say it’s growth. Something scary but I’m really excited for it,” she told ABS-CBN.

Mariano and Pangilinan are currently putting their on-screen partnership on hold as the latter is also set to embark on a solo journey as one of the new judges of “Pilipinas Got Talent” (PGT).
“We’ve both been open about it na we’re both supportive of each other, with him on PGT, I’m very supportive. And of course with this thing I’m doing with Direk, he’s very supportive as well,” said the actress.
Star Cinema is currently tight-lipped about the details of Moriano and Garcia-Sampana’s untitled project, but assured that they will be revealed soon.
Meanwhile, Mariano recently made a guest appearance on the action drama “Incognito,” where her brief portrayal was lauded by online viewers.
The actress previously headlined “Can’t Buy Me Love,” “How to Spot a Red Flag,” and “An Inconvenient Love,” among others alongside Pangilinan.
