Singer-songwriter Denise Julia announced she’s taking a break from social media after facing backlash following accusations of “unprofessionalism” from celebrity photographer BJ Pascual.
Denise took to Instagram to announce that she is “detoxing” from the digital world to restore her focus.
“Aaand that’s officially my last post for the year. Socmed break starts now. Detoxing from the digital world. Apps deleted, focus restored. Will be back next year. I love you guys,” she wrote.

Denise’s post came after a controversy erupted online following Pascual’s statement declaring that the former is his worst celebrity experience on the job.
“Nang-gigigil pa din ako,” began Pascual. “Si Denise Julia. I have heard so many things about her. I guess medyo kasalanan ko rin that I still took the job, and it was more like a passion project because her manager JV (Denise Julia’s manager) called me many times, like, would message me on Instagram, and so we had a meeting.”
Pascual detailed her experience being asked to work on Denise’s album cover and music video, saying that the latter’s team is questioning the expenses and has cancelled on them.
“Ang babayaran na lang nila is manpower and materials. There is no talent fee. This is charity work na,” he said. “Sabi ng manager ko, ‘They want to cancel daw the shoot.’ The reason was nag-flake daw ‘yung hairstylist nila.”
“Girl… This was already 10 PM. Ang call time namin is 6 AM (the next day). Siya (Denise) 8 AM How many hours na lang before the shoot? We have been setting the set since 4 PM,” he added.
The celebrity photographer also shared that Denise’s camp also declined to pay the cancellation fee, claiming that they haven’t finalized their negotiation yet for Pascual’s team to carry on with the process.
“Walang confirmation. Excuse me? It’s the day before the shoot. Kayo ‘yung nagpumilit to shoot on this day,” he lamented. “Nahihiya ako sa mga taong naabala. ‘Yung bayad na ‘yun sa kanila, pa-thank you na lang sa kanila kasi for the time and effort.”
Pascual noted that they ended up shooting another celebrity for the set to not to go to waste, as he revealed that he never heard back from Denise or her team.
“After that, I never heard from her. No thank you, no sorry, no anything. No, what happened. Nothing,” he said.
After rising to fame for her single “b.a.d.” in 2023, Denise has faced controversies in a short period of time. She previously drew flak for “sexual objectification” and “queer baiting” in her music and statements.
