Carmina Villarroel says somebody out to ruin her, family

Without naming names, Carmina Villarroel said somebody seemed to be bent on ruining her and her family’s reputation after allegations labeling her as “matapobre” (snob) and “pakialamera” (meddlesome) kept coming up especially on social media.
Villaroel addressed the issue at the sidelines of a press conference last Wednesday, October 2, for “Abot-Kamay Na Pangarap” where she said that if there is any truth to these allegations of her supposed condescending attitude, it would have tainted her image as an artist a long time ago.
“Ang point ko lang, ganito lang po ‘yun. Kung masama akong tao, kung sinasabi nila, matapobre ako, or pakialamera ako, o ganito-ganito, na dapat noon pa, di ba?” she told reporters.
“Dapat noon pa, natsismis na yan, na masama akong tao, na ganito-ganito. But if you look back, ‘yung mga tsismis, wala kang makikitang ganu’n. I’m not saying I’m perfect. Nobody’s perfect. Pero wala kang maririnig sa akin na diva ako, na matapobre ako. Ngayon na lang, or last year na lang ito,” she added.
Villarroel noted that these allegations also only surfaced as early as last year and kept coming up until now, but she refused to identify who could be behind the supposed smear job against her and her family.
Article continues after this advertisement“I don’t wanna say it, I don’t wanna think about it, but parang lumalabas lang na meron lang gusto talagang manira sa akin at sa pamilya ko. Let’s all face that. Kasi sino naman ang gagawa, all of a sudden? Bigla na lang may gagawang ano. It’s just so sad na ang social media ngayon, may nabasa lang, may napanood lang, papaniwalaan na kaagad without really identifying or without really researching or knowing the truth o yung pinagsimulan ng video,” she explained.
Article continues after this advertisementThe actress-host further said that if it’s up to her, her twins, Cassy and Mavy Legaspi, wouldn’t be in the entertainment industry.
“Kung talagang pakialamera ako, wala sila sa showbiz ngayon. I’ve been saying that, hindi ako pakialamera. I’m very supportive with my kids. But I’m just being a mother. What does it mean? Mapagmahal akong ina. I care for them. I worry about them. Mahal ko sila. Kung para sa inyo, pangingialam ‘yon, then okay sige pakialamera ang nanay niyo. But that is my definition of pagiging pakialamera,” she said.
In 2023, Villarroel and her twin children made cryptic posts that appeared to allude to the alleged breakup of Mavy with rumored girlfriend Kyline Alcantara, though they have yet to confirm their relationship nor the cause of their supposed split.
The parties then let out a series of cryptic social media posts that their followers interpreted to be aimed at the other.
