Carmina Villarroel vows to protect kids: ‘Hindi kami kontrabida’

Carmina Villarroel turned emotional as she gave a birthday message to her twin children, Mavy and Cassy Legaspi, who faced backlash last year.
In the Saturday, Jan. 6, episode of cooking talk show “Sarap, ‘Di Ba?”, Villarroel said that her birthday wish for her kids is peace and joy, while also hoping that whatever she is going to say would not be taken out of context.
“Ang wish ko lang talaga is to have inner peace and inner joy. I’m trying to be careful because baka bigyan ng ibig sabihin ‘yung mga sasabihin ko. I don’t want to overthink; Tatay and I are just happy that you’re back,” she addressed the twins.
Villarroel reflected on the hearsay that she is interfering with the lives of her twins without specifically mentioning what issues she was told she was meddling with.
“You know that I’ve been quiet for the past how many years; hindi ko alam bakit sinasabi nilang nangingialam ako, but I don’t care because I am your mother. Kung nakialam ako, hindi mangyayari ito. So it only means, hindi ako nakialam,” the actress remarked.
The actress-host then promised that she and her husband, Zoren Legaspi, will always be there to shield the kids, as she assured them that as parents, they are not villains but allies.
“I want you to know the two of you, that I will do everything and anything para sa inyong dalawa. I love you so much. Tatandaan n’yo lang, nandito kami ni Tatay para sa inyo. We always want what’s best for you; hindi kami mga kontrabida ng buhay ninyo, kakampi ninyo kami,” she affirmed.
Villarroel commented on the controversies the twins were involved in last year, noting all of them in the family get hurt every time one of them receives hate.
“‘Yung pinagdaanan natin last year, I am thankful na pinagdaanan natin ‘yun because nakita ko ‘yung strength ng bawat isa. Kapag ako ‘yung tinitira, si Maverick ‘yung nasasaktan. Kapag si Mavy ‘yung tinitira or si Cassy, kaming dalawa ni Zoren ‘yung nasasaktan,” she said.
The “Abot-Kamay na Pangarap” star affirmed that they were tight-lipped about the issues because they wanted peace and love to prevail.
“Tahimik lang po kami kasi hindi naman po kami palaaway. Gusto lang namin ng peace and love sa lahat,” said Villarroel.
In 2023, Mavy became a center of public curiosity after breakup rumors between him and love team-rumored girlfriend Kyline Alcantara made headlines, with Cassy allegedly also having a personal rift with Alcantara.
