Carlo Aquino is trying to make each day count as he bonds with his daughter, Enola Mithi, whom he said will always be his “little princess.” Mithi is Aquino’s daughter with his ex-partner Trina Candaza.
The actor took to Instagram on Friday afternoon, Aug. 23, to share their intimate father-daughter photos that were captured by his wife, actress Charlie Dizon.
“The days, the weeks, and the months will fly… But you will always be my little princess,” he wrote in his caption, adding the tag that Dizon took the pictures.
In July, photos of Dizon spending time with her stepdaughter made the rounds online, after Candaza told entertainment reporter Ogie Diaz that Aquino did not ask his daughter to be part of his wedding the previous month.
Aquino and Candaza became a couple in January 2019 and welcomed Mithi in September 2020. They announced their separation in 2022.
In early 2023, Aquino claimed that he was being prevented from seeing their daughter. Candaza denied this and clarified that he was not the only one shouldering the expenses for their daughter.
“’Di ko raw pinapahiram si Mithi at siya ang bumubuhay sa aming dalawa. That’s not true kasi I also pay half of our expenses so para sa akin, dalawa kaming nagpo-provide,” said Candaza at the time.
(He said I don’t give him permission to borrow Mithi and he is the one who supports both of us. That’s not true because I also pay half of our expenses, so for me, we both provide.)
“Hindi ko pinagdadamot. It’s just that hindi siya pumupunta (I do not deny him our child. It’s just that he does not come),” she added.
Despite their sometimes “complicated” co-parenting setup, Candaza said in the interview that she would allow their daughter to meet with Aquino’s wife.
“Kaya para sa akin, if ever man dumating ‘yung panahon na may papakasalan na siya, siguro ‘yun kailangan na namin magkita-kita. Hahayaan ko na sila mag-bonding kasi ‘yun na ‘yung tatayong pangalawang ina ni Mithi,” she said at the time.
(So for me, if the time ever comes that he is going to marry someone, maybe that’s when we need to meet. I will let them bond because she would be Mithi’s second mother.)
