Charlie Dizon, Carlo Aquino bare yearlong engagement prior to wedding
After pulling a surprise wedding earlier this month, Charlie Dizon let out a few more details that led to her and husband Carlo Aquino’s big day held in Cavite, including the fact that she had not expected the actor to propose to her so soon, or that they have been engaged for more than a year.
In an interview with Metro Style magazine, Dizon said Aquino’s proposal came as a surprise considering they have only been in a relationship for less than a year.
Aside from keeping their wedding announcement from the public, the couple also did not disclose their engagement, choosing to keep these milestones to themselves and to a close few.
The couple, in the interview, said the proposal took place during Dizon’s 30th birthday in Thailand in April of last year, proving to all and sundry that their engagement, and eventual marriage, was not a fickle idea.
“’Di ko in-expect na magpro-propose siya du’n kasi wala pa rin kaming one year nu’n,” shared Dizon. (I didn’t expect him to propose at the time because we haven’t marked our one year together yet.)

The “Pira-Pirasong Paraiso” actress shared that Aquino asked for her hand from her parents and siblings, who are based in California, USA, over a video call, so that they have already given their blessings before the proposal took place.
She said that Aquino even went to personally meet her parents in America to prove to them his intention to marry their daughter. The following year, the actor asked her to marry him.
Aquino confirmed their relationship in January 2023, although it’s unclear when they started dating. The actress addressed her partner as her boyfriend in July of the same year.
The couple then tied the knot on June 9, 2024, in Silang, Cavite.
