Cita Astals’ reunion with her fellow “Home along da Riles” cast members was filled with tears of joy, as they all declared that their family, despite being “lost for a while,” is now back.

The gathering was documented through a video shared on Claudine Barretto’s Instagram page on Tuesday, May 28.

After greeting the group, Astals was welcomed with a tight hug by Barretto while the rest were teary-eyed watching the two. Villa rushed to hug Astals as well, then others followed suit.

“The family was lost for a while, but now it’s back,” the caption reads, quoting Alvarez’s statement.

Astals, who portrayed the role of Dolphy’s boss Hillary in the hit 1990s sitcom, was away from the limelight for years. She entered politics in 2006 and served as a Manila councilor, then later failed in her bid to become vice mayor.

In a February 2024 interview with Julius Babao, Astals said she was “put in the hospital” for her bipolar disorder sometime after 2010. When she got out of the hospital, she worked as a call center agent which also did not last for too long.

Subsequently, she tried her luck once again in politics but to no avail. For this reason, she said she suffered from depression.

Addressing the speculations of her having lost her mind, Astals said she’s not imposing her beliefs on people nor is she forcing them to believe in her.

“I’m okay now… For a while I got into depression, but I eventually got out of that mindset and moved to Cavite,” she said, adding that since then she was able to write a “history book” and came up with a “disinfectant for COVID-19.”
