Melai Cantiveros definitely felt like “the first honor” after her funny remarks at the Asia Artist Awards (AAA) 2023 drew attention from K-pop idols and K-drama stars including Bang Chan of Stray Kids, NewJeans and Kim Seon-ho.

Within a year of their debut, NewJeans cemented their status as a K-pop powerhouse after bagging a total of five awards including Song of the Year and Singer of the Year, at the Asia Artist Awards (AAA) 2023, which took place at the Philippine Arena on Thursday, Dec. 14.

The quintet, consisting of Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein, also won the Hot Trend Award, Best Choice Award and Fabulous Award at the awards ceremony.

This year’s 8th Asia Artist Awards’ saw multimedia star Melai Cantiveros, Filipino pop band Ben&Ben, leading Filipino contemporary pop group SB19, South Korea-based Filipino boy band HORI7ON, Kapamilya stars Jennica Garcia, and Alora Samsam, along with the cast of “Maam Chief,” grace the red carpet.

It’s time for the Asia Artist Awards (AAA) 2023, and the Philippines is taking center stage as it hosts what is considered one of the biggest entertainment award-giving bodies in Asia on December 14.

AAA is an annual event that brings together some of the biggest names in the entertainment scene in the region. Dubbed as Asia’s Oscars and Grammys rolled into one, the South Korea-based AAA will be held at the iconic Philippine Arena in Bulacan, one of the world’s largest indoor venues. This marks the first time that the country will host such an event. Previously, the awards were held in South Korea, then last year in Japan.

Shen Quanrui, best known as Ricky of K-pop group ZEROBASEONE, will be unable to participate at the upcoming Asia Artist Awards (AAA) in Manila following issues with his passport and visa.

In an official statement on ZEROBASEONE’s X (formerly Twitter) page, his label Wakeone Entertainment confirmed that Ricky will skip the upcoming event on Dec. 14 at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan.

EXO’s Suho, Kim Sejeong, Moon Gayoung, Kang Daniel, ITZY, STAYC, and Stray Kids are among the Korean stars who arrived in the country via Clark International Airport in Pampanga.

One of the most awaited events for any Hallyu fan is the year-end awards ceremonies. It’s the time for communities to show their power as they vote for their favorite acts to make it to the top — ultimately ending up as a hot topic on social media. But since then, it opened its doors to Asian acts which solidified its power in the entertainment industry.

Among the biggest Korean awards ceremonies are the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA), Golden Disk Awards, Melon Music Awards, Genie Music Awards, and the Asia Artist Awards (AAA) — where the lattermost is set to be held at the Philippine Arena on Dec. 14.
