It’s time for the Asia Artist Awards (AAA) 2023, and the Philippines is taking center stage as it hosts what is considered one of the biggest entertainment award-giving bodies in Asia on December 14.

AAA is an annual event that brings together some of the biggest names in the entertainment scene in the region. Dubbed as Asia’s Oscars and Grammys rolled into one, the South Korea-based AAA will be held at the iconic Philippine Arena in Bulacan, one of the world’s largest indoor venues. This marks the first time that the country will host such an event. Previously, the awards were held in South Korea, then last year in Japan.

It is no small feat that the AAA will be held in the Philippines, an enormous honor that would likely propel the country to international stardom in terms of hosting such great acts. Given the country’s love of K-pop, there is little doubt of this happening.

According to local organizers, Pulp Live Worldwide, AAA 2023 serves a “deeper purpose” beyond the glitz and glamor.

“It acts as a venue for fostering collaboration and cultural dialogue among artists from different Asian nations. By facilitating these interactions, the AAA plays a vital role in shaping the future of entertainment in the region. It also promotes cross-cultural understanding, and champions the global proliferation of Asian pop culture,” Pulp said on its website.

The meeting of minds happened when Pulp executives met with the AAA’s top brass at Shangri-La The Fort in Taguig City, Metro Manila and was made official last August 14, 2023, in the presence of StarNews CEO Mr. Bahg Junechul, TONZ Entertainment’s CEO Mr. Kuk Byoungjin, and its General Manager Ms. Kim Serin. The contract signing set the stage for the holding of AAA 2023 at the Philippine arena.

“The Philippines, with its rich tapestry of cultural traditions and fast-growing entertainment sector, is the perfect backdrop for this year’s AAA. Of late, Filipino artists have consistently enchanted audiences worldwide, making it an epicenter of talent that resonates globally,” said Pulp.

Joining the lineup of K-pop idols are EXO’s Suho, Kim Sejeong, Moon Gayoung, Kang Daniel, ITZY, STAYC, and Stray Kids, who have all arrived in the country via Clark International Airport in Pampanga.

LE SSERAFIM and NewJeans – coming from HYBE subsidiary labels Source Music and ADOR, respectively – also arrived in the country through NAIA.

But it’s not only foreign acts that will be performing during the whole-day event.

The Philippines’ own SB19, HORI7ON, Ben&Ben, Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla, and Melai Cantiveros would also take part in the event.

The Kapamilya stars’ attendance was confirmed as early as October, as confirmed by South Korean media outlet Star News.
