MANILA, Philippines — The local show biz scene exploded recently with the news that actress Liza Soberano’s breakout Hollywood movie “Lisa Frankenstein” already has a playdate next year. And James Reid is one of those who expressed his excitement for his friend’s big break.
“We’ve been waiting for this, I’ve seen a few of the fast tracks myself, and it’s Liza like you haven’t seen her before. So it’s super exciting,” he told a small group of media scribes who huddled around him on the “black carpet” at the launch of an eyewear brand at the Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City on Oct. 16.
“Lisa Frankenstein” will be released in theaters globally on Feb. 9, 2024. In the movie, Soberano portrays the role of “Taffy,” a cheerleader and the stepsister of the title role played by Kathryn Newton. The flick also stars Cole Sprouse and Carla Gugino.
Reid, whose Careless Management handles Soberano’s career, arrived at the carpet in an all-black ensemble, wearing a loosely-fitting round-neck shirt tucked to his relaxed-fit trousers, with a hint of sheen from his heeled boots and belt. A statement earring and a pair of lightly tinted glasses completed his look.
He explained to INQUIRER.net the process behind the look. “Accessories is, like, tough, to be honest. When it comes to your own style, and personalizing everything, it’s another layer. That’s super important. I didn’t have to wear much, just the shades is enough, enough to finish the look that I have,” Reid shared.

“So, it’s like a house party track, R&B vocals, and you should definitely check it out,” Reid said, while praising the KPop idol. “He’s an amazing artist. He’s super hard working. He’s very thoughtful towards his fans. So it’s an honor working with him,” Reid said.
He also teased of future collaborations with more global stars, but quickly held back and said, “of course, I can’t say with whom.” EDV
