Marian Rivera, donning a simple cap, oversized shirt, and track pants, merely danced to a sped-up version of “Price Tag” on Tiktok as a way of enjoying herself — but what started as a fun video turned out to be a viral sensation after it garnered over 185 million views, and counting.

The Kapuso primetime queen told reporters on the sidelines of the Preview Ball that grooving along to the Jessie J hit song was just her own way of trying something out on the social media platform.

Sabi ko nga, why not?

Ang dami kong tawag,” she further added.

(Many people have been asking me why I am not dancing anymore, they miss seeing me dance. So I said, why not? I just tried dancing to “Price Tag” and I didn’t know that they would like it. I was just enjoying myself at the time. I just wanted to post the video, and to try things out. Then the next day, I received a lot of messages and calls.)

When asked about her casual attire in her viral videos, the Kapuso star said that’s how she usually dresses in real life even before starring in the hit teleserye “Marimar.”

Shirt and tracksuit (I wanted my videos to be like a mirror where I can be comfortable because that’s how I am in real life. Honestly, that’s how I was before ‘Marimar’ — a shirt and a tracksuit),” she said.

During the event, content creator Niana Guerrero revealed to entertainment reporters that she would love to collaborate with the Kapuso star for a video for the future, a compliment that surprised Rivera.

Guerrero is known for her dance covers on social media that took the notice of foreign acts, including K-pop idols such as EXO’s Chanyeol, Treasure’s Asahi and Hyunsuk, and NCT’s Taeyong.

“Wow! But it looks like I need to practice first because that kid is really good. I can only go along with the flow,” Rivera said while laughing. EDV
