British actor Daniel Radcliffe is now an expectant dad after he announced that her partner Erin Darke is pregnant with their first child, according to UK media.

The “Harry Potter” star first confirmed the news to the Mirror. A separate confirmation was made by BBC with a spokesman for the actor. “Daniel and Erin could not be happier to be expecting. They are absolutely thrilled, and can’t wait to become a family of three,” the BBC source was quoted as saying.

“They told their families and friends recently. It’s an incredibly exciting time,” BBC further quoted the source as saying.

Radcliffe’s rose to fame at age 11 after his portrayal of the kid wizard Harry Potter in the film series, which was an adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s best-selling books of the same title. However, he started acting at age 10 when he took on the role of a young David Copperfield in the 1999 TV series “David Copperfield.”

After the Potter series, he appeared in several other movies, such as “Now You See Me 2” and “Victor Frankenstein”. He also tried his hand in theater and stage acting, debuting in the West End and Broadway in 2002.

He met his future girlfriend Darke on the set of the biographical drama “Kill Your Darlings” in 2012.

In an interview with Newsweek in October 24, 2022, Radcliffe reflected on the fame he experienced when he was a kid, and stressed how he wouldn’t want his future children to go through the same as he looked back on his “upbringing in the film industry.”

A former child star himself, Radcliffe said he opposes the idea of his future children being famous at a young age, noting how he “dreams” for them to be exposed and be appreciative of the film industry.

“I want my kids — if and when they exist — would love them to be around film sets,” he told the publication. “A dream would be for them to come onto a film set and be like ‘God, I’d love to be in the art department. I’d love to be something in the crew.’ Some part of this, but not from that.”

“And also, I think we’re saying this as people who have done alright and we’re still acting so clearly, we enjoyed it. But still, I wouldn’t want fame for my kid,” he added.

Although he considers film sets as a “wonderful place for kids,” Radcliffe reiterated how the fame that comes with being in the industry should be “avoided.”
