Francis Magalona’s ‘Bagsakan’ shirt fetches P620,000 in auction for Parokya ni Edgar’s Gab Chee Kee

An old polo shirt of the late rapper Francis Magalona fetched some P620,000 during an online auction to raise funds for Parokya ni Edgar guitarist Gab Chee Kee, who is undergoing treatment for his lymphoma.
In a post on the band’s official Facebook page on Tuesday, March 8, the group gave thanks to the family of the Master Rapper for donating the shirt to support Chee Kee and his family, and to the shirt’s buyer who requested anonymity.
“Maraming salamat sa nanalo sa auction ng Bagsakan Polo ni Sir Francis M. Let us please respect his/her decision to remain anonymous. And of course, our heartfelt gratitude to the Magalona Family for donating Sir Francis’ polo for Gab’s hospitalization. Maraming-maraming salamat po ulit,” they said.

Magalona’s shirt, which featured the three stars and a sun design with his surname on the breast pocket, was used during the “Bagsakan” music video that was recorded and produced by Parokya in 2009 along with another rapper Gloc-9. His family, through fellow musician and Magalona’s daughter Sab, offered the shirt to Miranda for auction to help defray Chee Kee’s medical expenses.
Parokya frontman Chito Miranda earlier said that he thought that finding Magalona’s shirt was already a lost cause but he was pleasantly surprised and overwhelmed when Sab reached out to him that her mom Pia found the shirt.
While the final price of the polo was not unveiled by the band, a previous Facebook post suggested that it might have cost approximately P620,000 based on its highest bid.
Meanwhile, Chee Kee has been showing signs of progress following his surgery after the band showed a video of the guitarist taking a few steps on his own during a therapy session, while a hospital staff is on standby.
“Update muna din kay Gab… Dahil sa patuloy na tulong, dasal, at good vibes galing sa inyo, medyo mayabang siya ngayon dahil nakakalakad na siya on his own,” the band wrote. The musician has been bound to his hospital bed and wheel-chair after his post-surgery. Recently, he was released from the intensive care unit and was transferred to a regular hospital room.
The band then shared that the guitarist is set to be discharged from the hospital soon.
“Good news din dahil medyo malapit na raw siya makalabas ng hospital para ituloy ang pagpapalakas niya sa kanilang bahay,” they said. (Good news as well because he will be discharged from the hospital soon, and treatments would be continued at home.)
