Sandara Park ‘got in trouble’ for not pressing elevator button for a company head

Sandara Park looked back at her beginnings as a K-pop idol, narrating an instance when she was scolded after she did not press the elevator button for the head of a talent agency.

Park, famously known by her stage name Dara, talked about this during an episode of “Unnies without Appetite” released on its YouTube channel on Wednesday, Feb. 1.

Park, one of the hosts of the show, was doing a mukbang (a video that features a person eating a large amount of food and addressing the audience) with fellow South Korean singers Yoon Eun-hye and Hyojung, who opened up about their experiences as K-pop idols.

“I got in trouble a lot, too,” Park recalled, as translated by Korean media outlet Allkpop. “One time the head of the label and I got on the elevator together, but neither of us pressed the button. I don’t know why.”

“I thought to myself why he wasn’t pressing the button for floor [seven] because that should be where he’s going. That’s why I just pressed the button for floor [four], which is where the practice room is. [Then] he told me, ‘What are you doing?'” she continued, mimicking the annoyed tone of the company head.

Park then just laughed off her experience, and opted not to give further details on the company head she was referring to. However, it can be noted that Park had been part of talent agency YG Entertainment from 2004 to 2021.

Park left YG Entertainment, the label behind her former girl group 2NE1, after 17 years with the company. She has since joined the South Korean agency ABYSS Company.

Park first gained fame as a “Star Circle Quest” talent in the country in 2004, then debuted as a member of 2NE1 along with CL, Minzy and Bom in 2009. The girl group officially disbanded in 2016, but reunited for a performance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California last April.  /ra
