Matet de Leon has mended the rift between her and Superstar Nora Aunor, saying that her vow to never to talk to her adoptive mom again was just an outburst of anger.

De Leon spoke about this during a livestream on her YouTube channel on Saturday, Jan. 7.

“Kami ni mommy ko ay nagkaayos na. Nakita na nila, nag-upload na ng video si kuya John,” she said, referring to a recent vlog by singer-rapper John Rendez where De Leon was seen together with Aunor. “I think I spoke too soon when I said I didn’t want to talk to her anymore… See what anger can do?”

De Leon then dismissed apparent speculations that she and Aunor’s feud was just a “gimmick,” pointing out that the people close to the younger actress know that she is not capable of doing such.

“Nagchat sa akin si mommy na sana maging maayos na, maging OK na kami, na sana kasi bagong taon [kaya] kalimutan na natin ‘yung mga nangyari nitong nakaraan,” she stated. “Who am I not to say yes to that and (not) to agree with her?”

(Mommy sent me a message saying she hopes for us to be OK again, and for us to move on from what happened because it’s New Year.)

“Ang Diyos nga nagpapatawad — ang mali ko lang do’n, sinabi ko na hindi ko na siya kakausapin. Hindi ko pala kaya,” she continued. (Even God forgives — my mistake was that I said I will never talk to her again. I realized I cannot do it.)

De Leon admitted that the bashing she got from what happened really took a toll on her mental health, but it taught her to “focus on the good” and to care less about what others may say.

“Bago mag-Christmas, I wanted to send mommy a message na maayos na pero nauna si mommy na magchat sa akin. I think that’s God’s way para maging maayos ang lahat,” she added.

De Leon first disclosed her falling-out with Aunor last December after the latter put up a gourmet business which “directly competed” with her daughter’s food business. De Leon said that she felt “betrayed” by her mom, and that the Superstar does not treat De Leon as her own child.

Aside from Matet, Aunor has three more adoptive children with her ex-husband, veteran actor Christopher de Leon, namely Lotlot, Kenneth and Kiko. Ian is the former couple’s only biological child. EDV
