Getting to the heart of the matter with Dustin Yu

Giving a hundred percent to your chosen craft is admirable. In fact, it should be required. Because there is no way you can be excellent at something if you are not “all in” or if your heart is really not into what you are doing. This is where the promising 21-year-old, “Regal Baby” Dustin Yu comes in. Who said that being in showbiz as an actor is an easy profession has no clue what they are talking about and needs a reality check. Because like any profession there are demands, adjustments, and most of all, sacrifices in order to become something more than average or mediocre in this industry. After I got to interview Dustin Yu, I firmly believe he wants this, he wants to be really good as an actor and he is committed. And quite incredibly, he is beginning to be noticed and make his mark.
The handsome Chinito actor first got everyone’s attention in “Mano Po Legacy: The Family Fortune.” Since then, we have gotten to see him as a guest star and appear in several television programs on GMA Network. Now, this will be the fourth time that Dustin Yu will be featured in the latest to be aired episode of “Regal Studio Presents” today, at 4:35 p.m. at GMA Network entitled “Super Besh” and he co-stars alongside the likes of the legendary sexy comedienne and veteran actress, Rufa Mae Quinto, insult-comedian, part-time actor and host, “Boobay” and one of the newest and potential-filled young female kontrabidas in GMA Network, the young Chinita beauty, Yvette Sanchez.
It will not be the first time that I get to conduct an exclusive solo interview with an actor and this is the perfect opportunity to be able to ask questions that have never been asked before, for the sake of their Below is my exclusive interview with Dustin Yu.
We all collect stuff or toys as a hobby or a passion. What do you collect?
Dustin Yu: I collect shoes for all occasions. Formal, basketball, for going out. I really love shoes. So when I see some that I like, I get them to add to my collection. It does not matter what brands they are as long as I like them.
Imagine you are in a small boat with Ms. Ruffa Mae Quinto, Boobay, and direk Easy Ferrer a mile away from shore and the boat begins to tilt over. In your excitement to go out to the waters with them, you forgot the boat can carry only three passengers. Who will you push first overboard to swim back to shore to safety? Otherwise, the boat will turn over and all of you will sink.
Dustin Yu: I feel it will be Ms. Rufa Mae since it will be for everyone’s safety, anyway. But if I could save everyone, why not?
If you could have a person-to-person conversation with God, what will you tell him? What will you ask him?
Dustin Yu: The very first thought that comes to mind is about my career because I have had to give up so much in this path I have taken. I will ask God to help me succeed in this choice; so that I can be a good actor. That I can help many people. All that I am doing now and all that’s happening are still within my control. What I cannot be certain about is my future in this career. As of now, that’s what I worry about because I am focusing on my career.
For you, what are the most fun, exciting and rewarding about being in showbiz, thus far?
Dustin Yu: Honestly, for me, it is the motivation given by the viewers through their wonderful comments. As actors, we get very tired on the set and the viewers may not be aware of this. So when we get to read your nice comments, it is very uplifting. We feel we did our work well. As a young man, it is also rewarding that we are able to buy stuff we want by virtue of our hard work. It is well-earned money for us.
Years from now, what would you want people in and out of showbiz to say about you when they hear the name Dustin Yu?
Dustin Yu: I would appreciate it if people will see how far I have come, say thirty years from now. To recognize how serious, hardworking and diligent I was and the time I have poured into this career.
