Kylie Verzosa tears up when asked if she misses Jake Cuenca: ‘Akala ko siya na’

Kylie Verzosa got emotional as she opened up about her breakup with fellow actor Jake Cuenca, admitting that she thought he was the one for her.
Verzosa talked about how she has been coping up from the breakup in an interview with comedian-TV host Vice Ganda, as seen on the latter’s YouTube channel yesterday, May 30. According to the beauty queen, she is grateful for the things that happened in her life, as well as for her work that kept her busy while going through such circumstances.
During the conversation, Vice Ganda brought up the time when Verzosa teared up during an episode of “It’s Showtime” when she was asked about a breakup-related question.
“Nagulat kasi ako nung sinabi mo ‘yung line na, ‘Challenge lang ba ‘yon or sign [to break up]?'” she told Vice Ganda. “Parang swak na swak kasi ‘yon sa pinagdadaanan ko noon—confusing and wala akong kausap. Wala akong pinagsasabihan.”
(I was taken aback when you said the line, “Was it a challenge or a sign to break up?” It felt like it really described what I was going through at the time—confusing and I had no one to talk to. I did not share it with anyone.)
Verzosa also admitted that she did not foresee her relationship with Cuenca to turn out the way it did, adding that they really loved each other.
“Breakup siya na akala ko hindi ko na mararamdaman ever,” she said. “Akala ko siya na. Akala ko hindi na ko magkakaroon ng heartbreak.”
(It was a breakup that I thought I would never experience again. I thought he was the one. I thought I would never have another heartbreak.)
“Sobrang happy ako sa relationship namin, grateful ako sa relationship namin. Hindi ako in shock, pina-process ko pa talaga lahat,” she added.
(I was so happy in our relationship and I am also grateful for it. I was not in shock, I was indeed still processing everything.)
When asked if she misses Cuenca, Verzosa teared up while nodding her head and tried to change the topic. Verzosa then disclosed that although she is still mending from the breakup, she has no regrets over the relationship.
“Naririnig ko sa ibang tao na parang sayang pero para sa akin, hindi siya sayang. Natulungan namin ‘yung isa’t isa, nagmahalan kami and nag-grow kami together as individuals, so bakit siya sayang?” she stated.
(People say that [our relationship] was wasted but for me, it is not. We helped each other, we loved each other and we grew together as individuals, so why will it be a waste?)
Cuenca confirmed last month that he and Verzosa have ended their three-year relationship, describing the time he had with her as “the best.” The reason behind the split was not disclosed, but the actor stressed that they did not “break up in anger.” /ra
