“Squid Game” creator Hwang Dong-hyuk will be treating fans to more thrilling games that will “test humanity” again in season two of the hit Korean series.

Hwang admitted that so far he only has “three pages’ worth of ideas” but assured fans that they can expect more games, as per his exclusive interview with Vanity Fair yesterday, May 18.

“Humanity is going to be put to a test through those games once again,” he was quoted as saying.

The writer-director also mentioned that Seong Gi-hun, portrayed by Korean actor Lee Jung-jae, will definitely return as one of its cast. Hwang then spoke about the idea of solidarity among humans after he was asked about the theme he will focus on.

“I want to ask the question, ‘Is true solidarity between humans possible?’” he told the publication.

Aside from the upcoming season, Hwang also shared his thoughts on what turned out on the “Squid Game” characters, adding that a different ending would have been possible if they “looked outside themselves.”

“If they were capable of talking with one another, of cooperating with one another, I do agree that there could have been a possibility that we could have seen more winners,” he said.

“Squid Game,” which became Netflix’s biggest original series launch, tells the story of debt-ridden individuals who competed for a cash price by playing childhood games with deadly consequences. According to Hwang, season two is anticipated to be released in late 2023 or early 2024. JB
