Jodi Sta. Maria proudly showed off her index finger marked with indelible ink, sharing that the voting process was an emotional experience for her.
Sta. Maria gave fans an update and narrated her voting experience through her Instagram page today, May 9.
“Felt so emotional kanina while filling out my ballot. Nag-ingat ng husto sa pagmarka dahil baka hindi mabasa ng machine. Nung nabasa na ng machine, lumabas ang resibo, napasobra ang lagay ng ink sa daliri ko halos napaiyak ako (dahil mahapdi rin siguro dahil sa kakakutkot ko ng index finger ko bago bumoto. Election anxiety perhaps?),” she said.
(I felt so emotional when I was filling out my ballot. I was very careful because I feared that my ballot might not be processed by the machine. When it was already processed by the machine, the receipt came out. I almost cried because too much ink was put on my finger. It was painful maybe because I was scraping my index finger before voting. Election anxiety perhaps?)
The actress then urged the public to vote wisely and reminded them of its importance to their future.
“Proud ako kasi alam ko tumindig ako,” she stated. “Sa boto mo nakasalalay ang kinabukasan mo.”
(I am proud because I know I took a stand. Your future relies on your vote.)
Sta. Maria earlier went on a house-to-house campaign in Marikina for presidential candidate Vice President Leni Robredo, her running mate Sen. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan and senatorial aspirant Chel Diokno. JB
